The Province of the Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Pope Francis. We join with the Church and the wider community in giving thanks for his life and for his leadership of our Church.

Our Provincial, Sr Philippa Murphy FDNSC, stated to the Province:

Pope Francis was truly the Word Incarnate. A man of courage who spoke the truth as he welcomed all with no exceptions. A great friend of the poor, the migrant, the refugee, the earth, and all those on the margins who suffered in any way. A humble, compassionate man whose life and actions as the inspirational leader of our Catholic Church said clearly to all; God sees you and loves you.

We unite our sorrow with the loving heart of God and with the prayers of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart. With Easter joy, we live in the certain hope that Pope Francis now enjoys the fullness of life in eternal glory.
