I want to say one word to you and this word is joy. Wherever consecrated people are, there is always joy! - Pope Francis
This simple statement is a beautiful summary of our dear Sr Patricia Mawn’s whole life: a rich life of 95 years, lived with Jesus and for Jesus. On September 6th our dear Sister Patricia or Pat as she was known gently and peacefully breathed her last breath as she surrendered to her loving God whom she had served lovingly and faithfully as a Daughter of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart for over seven decades.
Australia’s current Border Protection Policy
Dear Prime Minister,
I am writing this letter on the eighth anniversary of former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd’s announcement that no person seeking asylum by boat would ever be resettled in Australia.
Every person arriving after that date was to be subjected to indefinite detention on Manus Island, PNG, or in the Republic of Nauru, under ‘processing’ arrangements between the Australian Government and those Pacific states.

We have all had the opportunity to share memories of our dear Sister, Teresa over these past days and what has come through strongly was her deep love of the poor, her prayerfulness, missionary spirit, generosity and her gracious appreciation of the many ways God loved her throughout her life...

Jubilees of Sr Josette and Sr Theresa
Today we express our appreciation and love to our Jubilarians – Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, who over seventy years ago began a journey which has taken them to places and situations that they possibly never dreamed about, on their first profession day. Amazing 70 years ago! It would be difficult for many people in our society today to even imagine this sort of selfless commitment to God and to God’s people. Their lives of dedication and long-term commitment are an inspiration to all of us.
